Rotary Club Young Chef of the Year Competition

 

Last month, Northwood School entered 2 students into The Rotary Young Chef Award 2020  competition. Year 10 students from four schools took part in the competition. Students had to cook a three course healthy and interesting meal for two people costing less than £20 and consisting of a starter, main and dessert in two hours under the scrutiny of expert judges. The event was very successful and the standard of food produced was exceptionally high from all of the competitors. Two students from our Year 10 Hospitality and Catering classes took part in the competition. Daisy cooked tomato soup, roast chicken and chocolate brownies with strawberries. Alfie cooked roasted red pepper soup, followed by chicken tikka masala and finishing with chocolate mousse and raspberries. Although our students did not place in the top two the judges said that the competition was extremely difficult to judge due to the talent and excellent skills the students had all demonstrated. Students received a Tom Kerridge cookery book as a reward for participating and representing the school.
